Instagram Scam
The latest and greatest of the scams has now hit Instagram. The fraudster asks to follow the individual and then provides a picture of a check for them to deposit. The individual has to email and print the picture of the check to utilize the mobile deposit app to complete the deposit. The individual in no way shape or form discloses their account or personal information for this to be completed.
If you get a “follow” request from someone you don’t know, best advice is to delete the request or block them. As with any of the more popular social media sites, if someone is asking for a follow and they’re not a friend, family member or an acquaintance you can verify is legit, it’s a good idea to decline.
